“Married with” or “married to”? Which is correct?

You are married to a person: “She’s married to a doctor.” “Married with” is only used to mention children: “He’s married with two kids.”
The rule
be married to + person: “I’ve been married to Tom for ten years.”
marry + person, with no preposition: “She married Tom in 2015.” Not “married with Tom”.
get married (to someone) describes the event: “We got married in June.”
married with + children is a fixed expression describing a family situation.

✓ She is married to a teacher.
✗ He married with her last year.
✓ He married her last year.
✗ They got married with each other.

Why learners make this mistake
Spanish casarse con, Portuguese casar com, Italian sposarsi con - all use a word meaning “with”.

- No. The verb marry takes a direct object: “he married her”. Use “to” only with be married or get married.
